Student diversity: Time to rethink admission policies?

Consider reaching out to prospective students and helping them gain admission. And how about quotas for students from non-elite schools or poorer homes?

When Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong warned last month that top schools here must not become closed circles, it was like deja vu.

In 2013, Mr Lee had raised the same concerns, saying then that popular schools such as Raffles Institution (RI) were becoming less diverse, catering to a disproportionate number of students from affluent families.
