This year, Sri Lanka is in the news for all the wrong reasons. This time, it is not about ethnic conflict and civil war, rather

a sudden economic collapse,

the worst since at least the 1930s.

For me, this catastrophe is personal. I am half-Sri Lankan. Colombo, the capital, is my home town.
