Six months to Brexit, are talks headed for a breakdown?

Stand-off likely to go down to the wire. Real challenge is how to prevent Brexit from weakening the power and cohesion of Europe by ensuring the British remain involved as closely as possible.

LONDON • Just six months are now left before Britain leaves the European Union. On March 29 next year at 11pm London time, the British will cease to be members of the European Union. It will mark, arguably, one of the most momentous developments in the continent's recent history.

Bizarrely, given the shortage of time, the negotiations over Brexit - as the process is universally known - have failed to produce an agreement over the conditions which will govern Britain's exit.
