Shedding light on move to open up electricity market

Greater competition will help keep the lid on prices and spur innovation

By next May, all households and businesses in Singapore will be able to go beyond the SP Group and tap other retailers to buy electricity.

The move by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) for an open electricity market (OEM) has raised a flurry of questions since it was announced last month.
