Most 15-year-olds in Singapore not yet discerning readers

In Pisa 2018, Singapore's 15-year-olds formed the largest share of top performers in the reading test.

But when it came to reading with discernment, they fared less well. Here, we are talking about the students' ability to - when reading online - tell fact from opinion, comprehend lengthy texts, and deal with concepts that are abstract or counter-intuitive.
