More domestic workers needed, but do more to protect their rights

Asia is on track to become one of the oldest regions in the world in the next few decades.

According to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the number of older persons in Asia-Pacific is expected to increase from an estimated 548 million this year, to nearly 1.3 billion by 2050. By then, one in four people in the region is expected to be over 60 years old.
