I never learnt the name of Encik.

He was always in a wheelchair, parked under the sheltered walkway which I had to pass on the way to the supermarket and hawker centre. Especially during the periods when I primarily worked from home, he was a regular fixture. Dressed in a faded, collared shirt, he would spend the hours staring into the garden landscape. Clearly he had a lot of time to kill.
