It was the longest week in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's long career, and the emotion in the room was palpable when he arrived home from his audience with the Malaysian King last Saturday.

Malaysia's Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had collapsed about a week ago, and Mr Muhyiddin, 72, had emerged like a dark horse from the wings to secure the numbers needed to form a new government.
