One night last month, my seven-year-old daughter caught her first kissing scene on television.

It was by accident. She was meant to be soundly asleep in her room and I was relaxing with Heartstopper, the highly reviewed queer coming-of-age Netflix show, in the study. She wandered in and settled down with some colouring.
