When I was seven, I spent a lot of time trying to move things with my mind. I tried to pick up pencils or tip over glasses of water telekinetically.

The reason I tried to do these things was that I wanted to be like Matilda, the precocious heroine of British author Roald Dahl's 1988 novel of the same name.
