Jane Walker whisky no way to celebrate women's rights

The fictional Jane Walker will take over her brother Johnny's whisky label this month - a temporary rebranding in honour of Women's History Month, we are told.

It might seem innocuous enough - an unsubtle attempt to lure skittish female drinkers to whisky - but there is a backstory to this relationship that is worth noting. The liquor industry was once the most powerful opponent of granting women their civil rights.
