The fact that Singapore will be raising its official retirement age from 62 is good news indeed.

Clearly, the realisation has set in among policymakers that there are too many downsides to allowing the human capital of so many potentially productive seniors to go to waste, especially with health-adjusted life expectancy high in Singapore and the economy moving away from occupations that are physically demanding.
