Misogyny is generally understood as anything that resembles prejudice, mistrust, dislike and hatred towards women which could extend to their demonisation and dehumanisation.

In recent times, newspaper and magazine articles and social media have linked it with rape, murder, mass shootings, online trolling, the sexual predations of former film producer Harvey Weinstein and financier Jeffrey Epstein, the rhetoric of United States President Donald Trump and, yes, even climate change and Brexit.
