France, Singapore: New opportunities to strengthen strategic partnership

Both countries can do much to advance the cause of free trade given their shared vision of a multilateral and open world

Last September, France and Singapore celebrated 55 years of diplomatic ties. In an address recorded on that occasion, I promised that I would visit the Lion City in person at the earliest opportunity and, a few months later, I am glad to keep my word.

France has stood shoulder to shoulder with Singapore since its independence. We share long-term values. We share the vision of a multilateral and open world. We share an international agenda based on the rule of law.
