We refer to Mr Ng Yong Hwee’s letter “Review telco practices that make it a bad deal for consumers” (May 8).
We understand Mr Ng’s concerns. The telcos and pay-TV providers are required to provide clear and upfront information about value-added services offered on a free trial or complimentary basis for them to try out the services.
They are also required to remind consumers about the end of the free trial period at least three days prior and guide them on how to stop these value-added services. This will ensure consumers are not caught unawares and can make informed decisions. We have reminded the telcos and pay-TV providers about these requirements.
Regarding Mr Ng’s feedback about the change in content channels for his PayTV subscription, SingNet is reviewing this, as content acquisition is a commercial decision.
We thank Mr Ng for his feedback.
