I have been actively reporting scam advertisements whenever I see them on Meta’s platforms.
The response I often get through the support ticket is that these ads are not removed because they did not contravene the guidelines. It seems advertisement removals are not done by humans, but by artificial intelligence.
Recently, I reported a spoofed Land Transport Authority page giving out free ez-link cards, and another page selling products at prices way below their market rates.
Going through the advertisement and fake webpages will lead you either to download an infected app, or to arrive at a site that tries to harvest your credit card details.
When users actively report scam advertisements but the platform does not remove them, it seems to be wilful misconduct by the platform bordering on irresponsibility.
Is there any way to strengthen the law to penalise such behaviour by the platforms?
