We thank Mr Harpal Singh for his letter “ Older cars deserve fair access to insurance
We would like to clarify that the claim that older vehicles lack fair access to insurance is misleading.
There are over one million vehicles registered in Singapore, and all have the compulsory insurance required by law. This shows that insurance is accessible to all, including owners of older vehicles.
More than 20 insurers offer motor insurance. Vehicle owners who find it hard to buy motor insurance can use an insurance broker or agent to seek advice and obtain quotes. If their usual broker or agent cannot offer suitable options, they should approach other brokers and agents who can help source from different insurers.
