Forum: National Day Rally shows Singapore’s strong vision

As a Singaporean who has worked and lived abroad all my life, I still find that listening to our Prime Minister speak at the National Day Rally helps align citizens with the nation’s policies and direction under his stewardship.
If there’s one thing that typifies Singapore, it’s how it has always had vision. Singapore plans not just for the next five to 10 years, but many years ahead. Look at how Jurong Island came about. And in a similar vein is the creation of the new western island, which will handle Singapore’s future power needs and more.
PM Lawrence Wong also addressed other concerns, including the economy, housing, defence, population and new citizens.
Watching the National Day Rally also made me realise that the Singapore Government, under the new leadership team, listens. For any leader and organisation, true progress requires active listening from the ground up, because this matters just as much as vision.
As world conditions are uncertain, we find ourselves in an era of deglobalisation, where the fragmentation of global trade, supply chains and multilateral cooperation means major nations and economic blocs are increasingly turning inwards.
And during these trying times, I wish Singaporeans continue to stay united.
I also hope that, after listening to this Rally speech, all Singaporeans will be more motivated and aligned with the Government’s vision.
