Forum: Let parents decide if they want to keep children at home when PSI hits 300

I refer to the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) announcement that schools may close if the PSI goes above 300 (Haze in Singapore: PSI forecast to remain in unhealthy to high unhealthy range, Oct 10).

School closures carry great costs to children’s learning and to parents who may have to stay home from work to look after their children.

I appreciate that MOE has a dilemma, as some parents will want schools to close and some won’t. Perhaps a better approach would be for schools to remain open, but allow parents who are particularly concerned to keep their children home on days when the PSI is above 300.
