I recently had a positive experience at the NTUC career festival held at Sands Expo. I was retrenched recently and have been actively looking for a job, so I was feeling quite down and unsure which companies to even approach.

Customer service officer Cassandra approached me and asked if I needed any help. She listened to my situation, encouraged me like a sister and shared positive advice on how to approach life, not just job hunting. She reminded me that it is not only about finding a job, but also about finding meaning in life, especially after losing something important like a family member or a job.

After speaking with her, I felt better and more confident, and started applying for roles that matched my experience and profession.

I also met a career coach, Ms Nora, there. She was concerned about the challenges I had been facing, and guided me on how to update my resume and advised me on how to apply for suitable courses to upgrade myself.

I am grateful to Ms Cassandra and Ms Nora for their time, help and encouraging words. They both taught me that it is not only about work, but also about how we choose to view life, no matter what situation we are in.
