Regarding the plans to improve public transport connectivity in the west ( Govt says plans ongoing to boost connectivity in the west, after NCMP flags gaps in rail network
Bukit Panjang estate has long suffered from transport issues, seemingly regarded as a transport adjunct to Choa Chu Kang. With the current plans for the JRL terminating at Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang residents are once again left in the lurch on last-mile connectivity.
Extending the Jurong Region Line towards Bukit Panjang, with a possible new station to serve the Jelapang or Bangkit areas, will offer better connectivity to the majority of Bukit Panjang residents who work and study in Jurong.
Additionally, connecting the JRL to the Downtown Line will also take the passenger load off the North-South and East-West MRT lines from commuters in the north-west heading to and from the city.
Ultimately, this will help reduce passenger volume at the congested Jurong East MRT station.
