While I see valid points on both sides of the 38 Oxley Road debate, I lean towards respecting Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s wish for demolition (

Lee Hsien Yang’s claim on 38 Oxley Road inaccurate, creates false urgency for demolition: Govt

, Oct 25).

I recognise the cultural loss this might mean for Singapore, especially for younger generations who may benefit from having a physical link to their nation’s formative history. But we could leverage technology to create a high-quality virtual tour that captures the layout and ambience of 38 Oxley Road, accessible to the public online.

This digital archive would allow Singaporeans and global visitors to experience the residence digitally, preserving the historical site without contravening Mr Lee’s wishes.

The archive could include detailed timelines, audio narrations and recorded memories from those who witnessed Singapore’s formative years alongside Mr Lee.

This proposal seeks to honour Mr Lee’s personal wishes while capturing the essence of his legacy for future generations.
