I hope the new Marina Bay light-up planners are considering the impact of night illuminations on birds (Marina Bay skyline could see bolder night light-ups as URA explores easing guidelines, June 5).
Currently, there are areas along Orchard Road and the Central Business District where night illuminations seem to affect birds negatively.
A simple web search yields various results suggesting disorientation, changed breeding cycles, navigation impact, exhaustion, and fatal collisions.
There are various ways to mitigate the negative impact on our feathered friends and create a more vibrant city for ourselves. I would welcome more information on the plans to do so.
