I refer to the article “Lee Biscuits, maker of Marie biscuits, to end production, shutter factory by end-October” (Oct 22).

I have been eating Marie biscuits since I was a toddler _ on their own, dipped in Milo or as sandwiches, with butter in between. They taste so good.

The company said it wants to focus on core holdings, including rubber and palm oil operations. But can’t it continue to make just Marie biscuits, which have delighted so many generations and resulted in happy memories?

At 80, I have now cut down on my eating of Marie biscuits as I am diabetic but still love them. I am sure younger people enjoy them too, especially children.

I do hope the company will reconsider its decision to stop producing Marie biscuits, a household name since the 1930s.
