I would like to express my appreciation for Mr Teo Lai Huat, the driver of SBS Transit bus service 10, and commend him for his honesty, kindness and professionalism.
On May 11, after having drinks with friends, I boarded bus service 10 at Siglap at around 10pm and alighted at East Coast Road. I accidentally left my diamond solitaire ring, worth about $35,000, on the bus. The ring is precious to me because of its monetary worth and sentimental value.
When I contacted SBS Transit the next morning, I was told, to my relief and gratitude, that Mr Teo had found the ring at the end of his shift at Kent Ridge Terminal and dutifully returned it to the office. Acts of integrity and honesty such as his deserve to be recognised and celebrated.
Mr Teo’s actions turned what could have been a heartbreaking loss into a reminder that there are still many good and honourable people among us. I hope SBS Transit and the public will recognise Mr Teo for his exemplary conduct. People like him make a real difference to the lives of others.
