I recently took my wife to Bukit Batok Polyclinic after she developed fever, flu-like symptoms and significant muscle aches. Given her symptoms, I asked whether she could be tested for influenza A and B. I was surprised to learn that influenza testing was not available at the polyclinic. I was also informed that Tamiflu was not available and that we could obtain the test and medication externally if required.

I subsequently called two clinics near my home in Limbang and was surprised to learn that they did not offer influenza testing or antiviral medication either. Unfortunately, my mother, who lives with us, subsequently developed symptoms and also tested positive for influenza A. We had to purchase the test kits and antiviral medication separately from a pharmacy, and they cost $76.50 a person.
