Forget the trade war, a nuclear arms race is brewing

A new nuclear arms race is set to take off with the United States pulling out of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty

Governments and diplomats worldwide are devoting most of their efforts to the prevention of a global trade war.

But there is another dark spectre now stalking us: that of a new nuclear arms race. And it is one which, if not managed sensibly, could condemn the world to a spiral of tensions every bit as dangerous as those at the heights of the Cold War half a century ago.
