Firm moves away from being 'foreigner-centric'

Three years ago, when Mr Edwin Sudhakar, 38, came here to head Virtusa Singapore's human resources (HR) department, only about one in 10 staff was a local.

But the information technology service company, which is headquartered in the United States, decided that to grow in the region, it had to move away from being a "foreigner-centric organisation", says Mr Sudhakar, the company's senior director for HR.
