Fiduciary duties: Politicians must be held to the strictest standards of integrity

In the past week, readers would have noticed the use of an uncommon and unfamiliar legal term "fiduciary duties".

A fiduciary is a person who holds a legal obligation of trust. A trustee bears an important responsibility towards the trustor, and has to commit himself fully to serving the interests of the trustor by acting in the best interests of the latter.
