Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) track record of overseas airline investments has been dismal and the performance of overseas airline investments for the overall industry is no better.

However, SIA Group’s investment in Air India Group, announced last Tuesday, is still sensible and is, in many respects, different from its prior investments.
