The signs are that China is relaxing its harsh campaign of detention and re-education of Uighurs and other Muslim minorities in Xinjiang.

In December 2019, the government of the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region announced that all participants of its "vocational training centres" had graduated and future training would take place on a voluntary basis.
