Budget 2026: CDC vouchers tell only half the story about giveaways

Some feel not all households should get these vouchers. The truth is that the middle class appreciates this help and most of the support remains targeted anyway.

There is a loud, if minority, view that the Government has, of late, grown too free with the public purse – giving money out universally when it should be giving it out conditionally.

The CDC vouchers, cause of so much buzz since they entered our national lexicon in 2020, are the prime exhibit. Why should the rich and the middle class get them when the money could go to those who need it more?
