Less than a year after the Philippines' liberation of Marawi from militants affiliated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Bangsamoro Organic Law, which paves the way for the creation of a Muslim-majority autonomous entity in Mindanao.
The law, which was unveiled on Monday, is a crucial component of the historic 2014 peace agreement between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the biggest insurgent group in the country.
