When the news was released on June 18 that Singapore’s 15-year-olds had emerged No. 1 in a worldwide creative thinking test, there was a flurry of reactions from readers, with many of them doubting the results of the test conducted by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Few Singaporeans have made a global name for themselves as artists, composers and inventors, they pointed out. So how can our students be deemed the most creative?
