Make fans in Singapore go wild for local sports

If only that were the case. Singaporeans have caught the World Cup football bug, but when it comes to rallying behind home-grown sports talent, the team spirit is sorely lacking. What can be done?


Whether you are a soccer fanatic or occasional follower, it's that time that happens every four years when the nation is overcome with football fever. Since the month-long World Cup kicked off on June 14, Singaporeans have been transfixed by the action - regardless of their level of interest in sports normally.

More than 100,000 people visited 55 community centres island-wide in the first week for public TV screenings organised by the People's Association (PA).
