A smart nation with kampung spirit

In his National Day message, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong held up Kampung Admiralty, where retiree housing sits amid childcare, healthcare and other social amenities, as an example of what the Government is doing to transform education, healthcare and housing. An example of what PM Lee called "bold, creative planning", it embodies the kampung spirit - a colloquial term that refers to a community coming together to do things in unison.

But immersed in all that modern technology can offer, Singaporeans risk becoming isolated from the rest of society, more interested in Facebook updates than face-to-face interactions with friends and family.
