Singapore’s badminton star Loh Kean Yew clinched his first title of the year by defeating the higher-ranked Taiwanese Chou Tien-chen to win the Taipei Open.

Meanwhile, newly minted Singapore Premier League champions Lion City Sailors are eyeing a first continental title when they host the Asian Champions League Two final on May 18 at Bishan Stadium, whose capacity has been expanded to 10,000 for the showpiece.

In other news, former Singapore national cricket coach Arjun Menon, who had been operations manager of Cricket Malawi since 2020, was “brutally murdered” in his residence on May 10, said the Malawi National Council of Sports in a statement.
