Two National Basketball Association (NBA) teams will be celebrating Chinese New Year with special jerseys that they will wear in upcoming matches.

The Houston Rockets, the former side of Chinese star Yao Ming, and the Golden State Warriors unveiled jerseys which bear the Chinese characters for "rocket" and "warrior" respectively on the front.

The Rockets will debut the jersey on Feb 21 against the Toronto Raptors, and continue to don it in matches against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb 23 and the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb 25.

The Warriors will wear their jersey in four games - on Feb 20 against the San Antonio Spurs, on Feb 24 against the Washington Wizards, on March 2 against the Brooklyn Nets and finally, on March 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The unveiling of the jerseys is part of a wider NBA push to celebrate the holiday which falls on Feb 19 this year, which includes the first-ever NBA Chinese New Year television advertisement and community engagement in China.
