SINGAPORE - Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, which has been undergoing renovation works since September, will be open to the public on weekends, starting from this Saturday, April 4.

Nature lovers can access the main road leading to the summit from 7am to 6pm, with last entry to the reserve at 5pm, on Saturdays and Sundays only, said the National Parks Board (NParks) on Wednesday.

Entry to the reserve will be via Hindhede Nature Park only, and the public is advised to take public transport, as there will be limited parking lots due to restoration works.

The reserve remains inaccessible through Dairy Farm Nature Park as trail repair works continue at Dairy Farm Loop.

The reserve will remain closed on weekdays and on public holidays which do not fall on the weekend.

NParks said that the first phase of the two-year renovation project has been finished, which include slope stabilisation works between Keruing Hut and Simpang Hut being completed.

Trail repair works have also been done at the Summit Path, which will now have steps of two different heights, to cater to visitors with different needs.

Phase two of the renovation project is ongoing, said NParks, and includes slope stabilisation at two other locations, trail repairs and enhancement of visitor amenities including the Visitor Centre.

These will take another 18 months to complete, NParks added.
