Residents of Kampung Kurnia like Mr Norisham Man, 44, returned home to pick up their clothes and family members on Dec 16, 2019. Norisham's family had to move to the Setajam Village Public Relocation Center (PPS) after his home was flooded to the waist. The flood victims in Rompin rose to 1003 people from 256 families this morning compared to 858 people from 232 families on Sunday night, including Kampung Pianggu, Setajam Village, Sarang Tiong Village and Kampung Perpat. The Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple in Chinatown held a consecration ceremony on Dec 15, 2019. The event,conducted every 12 years, marks there-energising of the 94-year-old temple and the deity within; and also the end of seven months of renovation and maintenance works that cost about $1 million. The heavy rain did not dampen the spirit of the devotees, who woke up early on Sunday to attend the ceremony in Keong Saik Road.
