Thrown into the deep bend

Yoga practitioners who are feeling jaded with their regular classes and are looking for a new challenge need not go far.

All they have to do is look for a body of water, get a floating board and perfect their balance without getting wet, like these yoga buffs in South Africa.

Here, at Johannesburg's Emmarentia Dam which is also popular with runners, cyclists and canoeists, these yoga enthusiasts practise a form of stand-up paddle yoga on Saturday mornings.

Poses may involve core strengthening exercises, backbends and balancing, which is not for the faint-hearted, especially when the board is bobbing on the waves.
