Runaway chimp causes a stir

A male chimpanzee, named Chacha, screaming as a man tries to capture him on the power lines in a residential area in Sendai, northern Japan, on Thursday. It had escaped from the Yagiyama Zoological Park and was reportedly on the loose for nearly two hours, before trying desperately to avoid capture by climbing an electric pole.

It was eventually caught after being shot with a tranquillizer gun and falling from the power lines, said Kyodo News.

Officials from the zoo said it was unhurt but recovering from sedation, according to news outlets. The zoo is investigating how it escaped.
