Making light work of planting

Thousands of torches placed on terraced fields lit up the night during the Shuyang Festival in Guilin, in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region last Friday.

According to the Go Guilin Facebook page, farmers put candles on the rice terraces to wish for good luck and a good harvest.

The villagers also comb the rice seedlings and set up scarecrows to protect their crops.
