Let me in, please

Nothing captures the plight of refugees better than pictures of children fleeing war zones.

This little girl, with a rain poncho covering her face, was one of the many Syrian, Iraqi and Afghan refugees at a registration centre in the town of Presevo, in Serbia, in October 2015, who were hoping to continue their journey to a better life in the European Union.

This photo was shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, at focal length 35mm, shutter speed 1/250, f-stop 5.6 and ISO 500.

This and 144 other award-winning photographs from the World Press Photo 2016 exhibition are on display at the National Museum of Singapore until March 26, from 10am to 7pm daily.

The exhibition is presented by The Straits Times, and admission is free.
