In Pictures: Wildfires cause destruction across swathes of California
California firefighters have been working round-the-clock to put out wildfires that have sprung up in different parts of California. In June, the Erskine fire that was burning in Kern County was recorded as the most damaging in this year's wildfire season. There were several other wildfires that destroyed hundreds of homes and caused major highways to close. The latest fire which started in late July is the Soberanes Fire. It has since destroyed an area over 300 square kilometres. More than half the fire has been contained but it is expected to only be extinguished at the end of the month.
