In Pictures: US 4th of July Independence Day Fireworks

Cities across the United States lit up their skies with spectacular fireworks displays, marking the 242nd anniversary of their independence as a sovereign nation. Crowds gathered along the banks of the East River in New York and on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington DC, among other locations, to watch the pyrotechnics.
