In Pictures: Aleppo under siege

The northern Syrian city of Aleppo has become a bloody battleground in the country's five-year civil war. About 250,000 people in east Aleppo have been continuously bombarded by air strikes since government troops encircled the city in mid-July in a bid to retake it.
