From New Delhi to New York, thousands of yoga enthusiasts participated in yoga classes to mark International Day of Yoga on Tuesday (June 21). The idea for an international yoga day was first suggested by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly in 2014. Recognising its universal appeal, the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day. In Singapore and many other parts of the world, people joined mass yoga classes which started over the weekend.
