High speed slumber party

Participants running with their customised beds during the Pattaya Bed Race 2016, in Pattaya, Thailand, on Sunday.

The annual festival, now in its eighth edition, saw teams from businesses in Pattaya participating.

Proceeds from entry fees paid by bars, hotels and other businesses joining the race will go to a local charity caring for orphans.

The colourful beds pushed by these teams are decorated according to a variety of themes, such as a boxing ring and a floating market.

Participants are equally flamboyantly dressed, with many donning neon wigs and flashy costumes.

This part-fancy dress, part-sporting event is known to take place in parts of the United States and Australia too.
