Dead end for rusty bikes

What do you do with abandoned and broken-down bicycles? At Zhengzhou University, in China's central Henan province, they were collected by the university and thrown together.

The university collected some 2,000 bicycles - many of them rusty and in disrepair - that were left behind on campus, and has asked owners to collect them after proving ownership. The two-wheelers are said to have been dumped because they were broken or malfunctioning.

The university, which has about 56,000 students, according to its website, plans to dispose of unclaimed bicycles soon, a security officer told the Associated Press.
